SANBlaze announces industry-first, 4-Gbps Fibre Channel Target Emulation System
Virtual Target environment for SAN product testing, QA, and proof-of-performance delivers cost savings, configurability, and scalability
Orlando, FL, October 25, 2004 -- SANBlaze Technology, Inc., a pioneer in target emulation technologies, today announced a 4-Gbps version of its VirtuaLUN Fibre Channel Target Emulation System. VirtuaLUN provides a virtual, configurable environment for testing Fibre Channel infrastructure devices at a fraction of the cost of deploying physical disk arrays. The 4-Gbps VirtuaLUN will be available in Q1, 2005. A 2-Gbps version is available today and is showcased at Storage Networking World, October 25-28, 2004, Orlando, FL, Booth #PP34.
"For the first time Fibre Channel HBA and infrastructure engineers, as well as SAN software developers, can test and demonstrate performance in a seemingly infinite number of real-world environments, without deploying costly disk arrays," said Steve Munroe, President of SANBlaze Technology.
"By varying LUN counts and error conditions in a real time, virtual Fibre Channel environment instead of a physical one, we complete far more comprehensive testing in less time, and ultimately shorten our time-to-market," said Charlie Kraus, Director of the Host Bus Adapter Business at LSI Logic Corporation. "The SANBlaze VirtuaLUN provides a variable, configurable, and scalable target environment, making it an invaluable lab tool."
The system is capable of emulating as many as 2800 LUNs at a fraction of the cost of physical disks, and can be configured with 2, 4 or 6 Fibre Channel ports running at 1,2 or 4 Gbps. Each port can be configured to present 1 - 480 virtual "disks" of configurable size and health, enabling test engineers to simulate a wide variety of scenarios and error conditions.
VirtuaLUN features an easy-to-use, web-based interface enabling configuration, re-configuration, error injection, and monitoring from a remote system. It also features an extensive Command Line Interface, allowing intricate scripting capabilities. VirtuaLUN occupies a 1U rack space, delivering an optimized test environment in a compact footprint.
Availability
The 2 Gbps VirtuaLUN is available immediately from SANBlaze Technology. The 4 Gbps version will be shipping in Q1, 2005.
