SANBlaze Technology Introduces SB-AMC56 Advanced Mezzanine Card with Dual 10Gb and Dual 1Gb Ethernet
-- First AMC Module to Implement Sun Microsystem's 10GbE Multithreaded Networking Technology --
Maynard, MA, February 19, 2009 -- SANBlaze Technology, Inc., a leading provider of storage solutions for the embedded computing market, today announced the availability of the SANBlaze SB-AMC56, an Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC/AdvancedMC) that boasts four optical Ethernet ports, two 10Gb SFP+ and two 1Gb SFP.
The mid height AMC module features Sun Microsystems's network controller with chip multithreading (CMT) technology for optimized network performance, whether paired with Intel®, AMD® or Sun Microsystems' Netra® server blades. Multithreading helps accelerate application performance by optimizing I/O throughput within environments that utilize parallel threads. With its 24 independent DMA channels and hardware packet classification, CPUs can actually achieve more I/O parallelism with fewer CPU resources.
"A number of our customers asked us to develop an AMC variant of an RTM that we produce, providing 10G connectivity in the AMC form factor," said Steve Looby, SANBlaze Director of Product Management. "The solution that we have introduced provides ATCA and MicroTCA system designers with a very powerful networking building block."
The SANBlaze SB-AMC56 is fully hot-swappable in either AdvancedTCA or MicroTCA environments. A dedicated Module Management Controller (MMC) is used to manage the board and support Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) commands and PICMG (ATCA/AMC) command extensions. The SB-AMC56 is available in mid-size and full-size variants. Samples are available on request. Drivers are currently available for Linux and Solaris, with Windows support available later in 1H 2009.
